Psychology is a science that emerges from the curiosity of the human mind, covering a broad series of topics such as human behavior, emotions, thoughts and decisions. The birth of psychology comes from the first psychology laboratory in December 1879 by professor Wilhelm Wundt at the University of Leipzig in Germany, where 2 branches of the science of psychology were established by pioneering thinkers. These branches were Structuralism; aiming to understand the mind’s structure by using introspection techniques (eventually stopped being useful since other approaches were more practical and effective) , and functionalism; the study of how the human mind functions, to help people adapt and evolve in daily life practices.  Like most sciences, psychology uses scientific attitude, consisting in being curious, skeptical, but also practicing humility; meaning being able to be aware of a mistake in any given conclusion, hypothesis or prediction, while being open to new perspectives, allowing oneself to see further any errors. The practice of scientific attitude can help you to develop critical thinking, in other words the practice to question what is being said, evaluating proof and evidence, testing the credibility of the sources while recognizing different perspectives that may challenge your own beliefs. Ultimately psychology helps us to comprehend in a deeper sense why humans are the way they are, leading to a broader understanding about human behavior and nature.
